The project integrated food-based learning in the Jewish Museum London’s former cafe, with group baking as the main activity. Ovens and baking stations were placed in the public space to make it central to the visitor experience. The design is flexible, practical, accessible, and accommodating different setups.
We transformed the linear space into versatile quarters: preparation, baking, cleaning, and eating. Each area was carefully defined using lighting, furniture, colors, and finishes, creating a welcoming ambience reminiscent of a Jewish family gathering.
The project followed a food-themed process, from ‘ingredient gathering’ in project initiation to ‘taste testing’ through optioning, ‘perfecting the dish’ via versioning, and celebrating practical completion with a shared meal.
