Community Market

By using discarded long timber pieces and chipboard hoardings from the BBC Cymru Wales New Broadcasting House, polycarbonate sheets found from roadside builders’ skips, and glass panels from the existing facade, the design transformed a hidden dead-end alleyway into a vibrant space featuring a sheltered seating area and a dance studio.

The project’s success sparked new opportunities for the landlord, who now hosts weekly street markets and mini-music festivals, attracting a whole new community of visitors and vendors to the site.

This venture marks the third instalment in our ‘Lost & Found’ project series, collaborating with Hugo Keene and the Welsh School of Architecture’s Vertical Studio students.
